Találkoztam egy igen nagy méretű koronás keresztespók (Araneus diadematus - European garden spider) nősténnyel. A nagy potroha árulja el a nemét, hiszen tele van petékkel, melyeket hamarosan le is rak. Sajnos az előítéletek miatt gyakran el akarják pusztítani a pókokat. Ne tegyük, mert nem támadnak emberre és a pókokban is van valami szép, csak meg kell látni bennük. Ez az egyed is akármennyire volt nagy, rögtön menekülésbe kezdett. Ráadásul a csípése ártalmatlan az emberre nézve, legfeljebb kellemetlen érzést kelt. Kiváló lehet a látása, ha már messziről észrevett, egy fűszálra mászott és azt gondolta, hogy elég karcsú lesz ahhoz, hogy beleolvadjon. Jól látható, hogy milyen erős lehet egy pókháló, hiszen egyetlen pókfonal elbír egy ekkora pókot is. A lábai végén található karmok segítségével kapaszkodik és szövi a hálót.

Its sight can be good if it has noticed me from far away, it climbed on a blade of grass and thought it would be slender enough to melt into it. You can see how strong a spider web can be because a single spider-thread can take the weight of a spider. It clings and spins the spider web using the claws at the end of its legs.
