Íme, a bivalykabóca (Stictocephala bisonia - buffalo treehopper)... Nagy rejtőzködőmesterek, ezért nehéz őket megpillantani. Őszintén nem a nagy csalánon (Urtica dioica - nettle) kerestem volna őket először, mert nem ez a fő tápnövényük, hamarabb lehet őket megpillantani például a galagonyán. Mindenesetre jól érezték magukat a növényen, mert ezen az egyen kívül többel is találkoztam.

Here is the buffalo treehopper (Stictocephala bisonia)... They are great hiding masters, so it is difficult to notice them. Honestly, I wouldn't have looked for them on the nettle first because it isn't their main eating plant. They can be seen sooner for example on the common hawthorn. In any case, they had a good time on the plant because I met several other outside of one.

          

Az a trükkjük, hogy a közeledő fényképezőgép hatására átfordulnak a növény másik oldalára, kimodottan jó a látásuk, de ez ugyanúgy jellemző a többi kabócafajra is. Mire lefényképeznéd, már elpattan messzire vagy elbújik a növény szára mögött. Szerintem érthető, hogy miért is kapta ezt a nevet ez a rovar, hiszen hosszan kinyúló két tüskéje a bivaly szarvára emlékezteti az embert. Viszonylag nagy termetű kabóca, a méregzöld kabóca (Cicadella viridis - green leafhopper) mellette szinte eltörpül.

Their trick is to turn over to the other side of the plant as an effect of the approaching camera. They have exceptionally good eyes, but this is equally true of other Cicadinea. By the time you take a picture it will jump far away or hide behind the stem of the plant. I think it is understandable why this insect got that name because its two protruding thorns remind the man of buffalo horns. It is relatively large species, the green leafhopper (Cicadella viridis) is dwarfed by it.
